Primary School Tournament

Hawick &
District primary schools held their annual badminton competition
at Hawick High School games hall on Sunday, 21 March, 2010.
Play was hotly contested
as ever, as 19 youngsters took part, with the majority coming
from Drumlanrig primary school, who play under the supervision
of Colin Blaikie.
In the girls'
competition, Iben McMillan defended her title against fellow
Drumlanrig player Sophie Hislop. Bringing her much-improved
technical ability into play, Iben notched a 21-7, 21-7 victory.
The boys' tourney was a much more physical contest, and
Trinity's Douglas Telfer was made to battle hard against Daniel
Elliot (Drumlanrig) before taking the title with a 21-8, 21-13
win.
Drumlanrig
took the team award.
After the
finals, Colin Blaikie gave the vote of thanks and trophy sponsor
Janice Nuttall presented the prizes.
The coaches
would like to thank scorers Dan McMillan and Ross Graham for
their assistance throughout the day and Hawick High School for
the use of the hall. The coaches would also like to thank all
the parents
and friends who came along to support the tournament.
